The Oarsome Potential oar handle:
a patent-pending design that can
significantly improve the
performance
of competition rowers
Rowing has seen a lot of technical development in the last 50 years. Hull design has progressed in leaps and bounds in terms of water speed, stability and the ability to win races. Training methods have developed with precision and sophistication. Blades can be finely balanced and tuned.
But a crucial interface between the rower and the boat has been neglected: the hands, and the way they are used with the oars, have not received the attention they deserve ... until now.
The OP handle is an ergonomically efficient redesign that offers major improvements in three key areas:
Performance: by minimising the friction on the hands, it is easier to increase the stroke rate quickly.
Technique: the OP handle completely prevents squaring the blade with the outside wrist, discourages the rower from leaning out to pull the stroke, and promotes efficient positioning of the elbows (no "chicken wings").
Comfort: the OP handle represents a major gain in comfort for rowers with little or no blistering (the friction caused by using conventional oar handles almost guarantees discomfort) and a much more natural movement.
