may be useless at selling but I am pretty good at marketing.
This has happened largely by default; when you start a business
and you know sod-all about anything outside your own particular
skill, you'd better start learning the practicalities damn fast.
Turned
out I understand the essentials of branding, positioning, customer
relationships, stuff like that. And given my background in IT
journalism and small-business publishing, plus a brief stint
long ago at art college, it's reasonably logical that I have
got stuck into marketing collateral. I now have many years experience
to call on.
